Wedding costs are high nowadays, and the best way to pull off your wedding nuptials is by maintaining a Wedding journal with a budgeted wedding checklist. This will help you keep a track of your shopping and expenditures. When it comes to spending those hard earned five figures of your parents, spend wisely on elements you want to prioritize. Depending on your personal preferences decide what to save on versus splurge on.
Initially, get a rough estimate of how much you are willing to spend. Once you sort it out, start exploring vendors within your range. Avoid those love at first sight moments while you explore and select wisely. It's always better to start your marital life with a healthy account rather than going broke. Because no matter what, people only remember the food. * Just a Pakistani Thing*
SPLIT AND CATEGORIZE Just have a macro look on how you want your wedding to be like. Split your budget into major categories. How you allocate your money is the crucial part but be creative with the money you've got. Spend where you should and always have a second thought before you go ahead. You may categorize as: Apparel Venues/Events Food/ Caterer Flowers/ Decor Photography/Videography Planner or organizers Music Miscellaneous (transportation, gifts, accommodation for guests etc) Honeymoon
DON'T OVERLOOK THE HIDDEN COSTS Always keep some extra fund as a backup. There are so many things we aren't aware of that may add up later. For instance, beauty treatments, rickshaw rides, tipping the waiters and servants around, invitation cards, bridal shower, gifts or other traditional stuff.
RESEARCH THE MARKET Breakdown your estimated cost by contacting different vendors. You may need to adjust the budget throughout. Always keep a record for every contract you sign or payment you do. Save receipts, contact cards and given dates. Always make calls and follow up. Do not wait.
DEAL WITH EXPECTATIONS Realize you can’t have everything. So, what? A wedding isn't the last spot, there's so much more fun ahead. Stay calm and dare to say no to things you cannot afford. Have a cup of amazing coffee or just order a pizza from my side at your own expense. Teehee
That's how I am doing it. Hope it works for you too.
