DUA E KHAIR

Before beginning all those traditional shadi events, in some families, there's this event called Dua-e-khair or Milaad. It is usually arranged by the bride's side inviting the groom's family along with some other elders of the family. It is a beautiful event in which prayers are said for the couple's future. Recitation of Surah Fatiha is done and supplications are made for the well-being of both families, their relationship with each other and some hadiths related to marriage are also quoted during the ceremony.

As soon as duas are done, refreshment is served. Depending on the tradition, the bride may get gifts and a small amount of money too. So, as a returning favour, a little something is done for the invited guests too. It is not a must guys, always bear this in mind. Do whatever you can afford easily and what pleases you. I have seen people who could not afford stuff but due to all that peer pressure, they end up losing their peace of mind and of course emptying up their pockets for no reason. These events are not mandatory! * breathe ..relax OK!?*

Coming back to the favours, because usually elders are invited, it is always a good idea to give something very decent, they would love to have, something they would always cherish. It could be as simple as a tasbeeh , showpiece or Islamic book. Or you may copy my idea of mini Quran and sweets. It's totally up to your preference and your style. And yeah, it's totally fine if there's nothing because you have already served food! :D

Hope you'd love this, you amaxing peeps!

Till next. Cheerios :D
